Anastasia Seckers is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona, where she is pursuing a dual degree in Ecology and Geography. A recipient of the university’s National Merit Scholars Tuition Award, Anastasia is also a member of the Water Whys Vertically Integrated Project. Her studies are partially focused on GIS and its applications in environmental fields. She has always had a fondness for nature and the environment, especially the forests of northern Ohio in which she grew up, and hopes to use knowledge from her studies in order to share an appreciation for nature using various modes of communication.

In addition to her scientific interests, Anastasia is also an artist and musician and has won awards in both disciplines. She regularly plays harp in various summer orchestra festivals, and she recently wrote, illustrated, and self-published “Toki’s Last Song”, which uses art and storytelling to share a message about the intelligence and emotions of whales.
