Christien Stevany is a third-year student at the University of Arizona, studying Environmental Science with an emphasis on soil, air, and water. She is also an international student from West Papua province in Indonesia who has been awarded a scholarship by her local government to recognize her academic achievements as an outstanding Indigenous student. Her academic and research interests focus on rainforest and marine conservation, the primary resources in her hometown. During her studies, she is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices and contributing to preserving these critical ecosystems. Upon completing her bachelor's degree, she plans to further her education by pursuing a Master's degree in Natural Resource Management or a related field. Her long-term goal is to return to her hometown and work with local governments, NGOs, and community groups to implement effective conservation programs. She aims to become a leader in environmental policy and education, advocating for sustainable development and the protection of natural resources locally and globally.
