In sunny Santa Barbara, the first cohort of the Equitable Agriculture and Environmental Program embarked on an immersive, two-week intensive course focused on equitable and sustainable agriculture.
The program’s coursework spanned key areas in agricultural policy, equity, and sustainable practices, providing students with hands-on skills in data analysis and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Students engaged in their research ideas and crafted a project to apply these new skills to real-world agricultural issues, demonstrating their capacity to blend data insights with equity-centered objectives. As part of the program, students also visited the White Buffalo Land Trust, a local regenerative farm where they witnessed local initiatives in sustainable agriculture.
